REMOVAL AND CORRECTION OF HAIR EXTENSIONS IN LONDON
Please note
How often should hair extensions be corrected or maintained?
Hair correction or hair maintenance is typically necessary every 2-3 months. In fact, the frequency of this procedure depends on several factors: the method used for the extension, the care given to the applied strands, the rate of hair growth, and the density of natural hair. Sometimes, hair correction may be required monthly, while in other cases, it may be sufficient to do it once every 2-3 months.
How is the correction procedure carried out?
Removal of hair extensions
The correction always begins with the removal of the strands. Hair removal after extension is a procedure whose technique and duration depend on the extension method and the number of strands used, typically taking about 1 hour on average. When correcting hair extensions using capsule techniques, a removal agent is applied to the areas where the capsules are located – a special solution that softens the capsules and allows the master to remove the extended strands without the risk of damaging the client’s natural hair. With the help of special pliers, the capsules are gently pressed, and the extended strands are easily separated from the client’s hair. To correct extensions with tapes, a special spray is used, which is applied to the tapes: the adhesive dissolves instantly, resulting in the extended strands being quickly removed.
Preparation of native hair
Using the capsule hair extension method, after removing the old capsules, new ones are created: the master first heats the keratin, then applies it to a previously prepared hair strand, and forms a new attachment with special pliers. The same procedure is repeated for the rest of the strands. This process is called recapsulation. After this, you can proceed to the final correction stage – reapplying the prepared strands. With timely correction and proper hair care, these strands can be reused and typically last for about a year. Since you don’t need to spend money on new hair, the correction costs the client approximately half the price of the initial extension. You only pay for the materials, the master’s services, and any additional strands if needed: sometimes, during the correction, it becomes necessary to add new strands because approximately 10% of the extended hair strands may shed naturally during wear.
Recapsulation
With capsule extension techniques, after removing the old capsules, new ones are formed: the master first warms up the keratin, then applies it to a previously prepared strand, and then forms a new attachment with special tongs. The same is done for the rest of the strands. This procedure is called recapsulation or recapsulation. In fact, this is a replacement fixer. After it, you can proceed to the final stage of correction – re-building the prepared strands. The same strands, with timely correction and proper care for hair extensions, can be used repeatedly and are worn on average for about a year. Since there is no need to spend money on new curls, the correction costs the client about half the price. Only materials, services of a master and additional strands are paid: sometimes, during correction, it becomes necessary to add them, since about 10% of the extended hairs are combed out during wear for natural reasons.
Repeated extension
After the strands have been recapulated, the client’s hair is thoroughly washed and dried before proceeding with the extension procedure. During the correction, the master performs three times the work, so it takes three times longer than the initial hair extension procedure. The master will reapply the prepared extensions using the same method or application technique. This will restore the desired look and length to your hair. After reapplication, you will continue to care for both the extensions and your natural hair to keep them in good condition. This may involve using special products for extensions, avoiding substances that can damage the strands, and following the master’s advice for proper care. It’s important to work with a professional master who has experience in managing and reapplying hair extensions to ensure a safe and effective process. The frequency and procedure for reapplying extensions can vary depending on the type of extensions, their quality, and your personal preferences.
